Quantum Services

The first time I heard of Quantum Services was over a year ago when one of the Wilson Farms district managers (they call them “supervisors”) decided that he was going to try Quantum in some of his stores. Quantum specializes in convenience and gas station stores. It seems that Quantum Services must do a decent job since, as far as I know, they still inventory all the stores that RGIS used to inventory. Based on Quantum’s website their focus is very different from RGIS. They found a niche and they sticking with it. Based on what I have heard, the promise of accuracy isn’t an empty one. If you believe their website, they pay their employees better than RGIS and manage to have better benefits.

A couple of comments I do have.
It should not be hard to find a company that pays better then RGIS – Blackstone is trying to bring expenses down to the bare minimum.
You say “they still inventory all the stores that RGIS used to inventory”, I think it would be more accurate to say “They have not lost any of the stores they took away from RGIS”.
There of course are other services around SIS, WIS are two of them. WIS is our biggest competitor. SIS uses hand calculators with paper printout.
You don’t get to be were RGIS is, with a presence in just about every country, by specializing in a small nitch of the market. Yes we do big box stores as well as mom and pop, yes a lot of big box just want a number, but some, The one with the red circle, want us to be very accurate, then there is Kohls and Pennies want as to individuly capture every UPC.

Can the other company’s supply temp help, can they go in and in a few hours make a CAD Map, down to within 2 inches, with plana-gram layout? Can another company get the world wide contract to reset Wal-Marts. Would another company have the man power “with less than a 2 month notice” to reset 620 stores that CVS acquired when they purchased Albertsons’ Sav-On and Osco pharmacies.

DO they have a Space Optimazation Div, a Marketing Div?

You really can not compare RGIS to anybody else.
This is not to put down a small company, Until now I have always worked for small company’s one had 3 employees.

Yes in spite of all that has gone on this past year I am a proud RGIS employee.

If I was only interested in making money, I would not be working for RGIS. Right now, I am making a lot less money than I was in the 1980s when I was in my early 20s. Right now, I am making a lot less money than I was getting from RGIS in 1999 as a team leader. And I was making a lot less money in 1999 than I was in the early 1980s.

As to RGIS, it is important to remember that sometimes the bigger they are the harder they fall. The recent economic crisis has proven that there is no such thing as “too big to fail.” Quantum’s major selling point is that they are small and specialized for the market that they want to serve. Sometimes a screwdriver can be more useful than a Swiss army knife if it s the right screwdriver.

I’m glad that you are proud to be a RGIS employee. I think I was last proud to be an RGIS employee in 1998 or 1999. Alas, I think that says more about me than it does about RGIS.

I don’t think that customer service and accuracy are valued at all these day. Of course, the corporate line is otherwise, but in the aisles, it’s a different story.

Hey Walt, what is the current minimum acceptable APH to keep your job at RGIS? What APH do you have to reach to be “promoted” to Specialist?

1040 APH to reach Top Gun, right?

    Thanks!
