there is a strength in not-doing
that we can not often find
grubby hands clutch at the soiled silence
swollen with the whisper of wings
and blindness
swollen with pus snatched from
the sores of a thousand saints

there is a strength in not-doing
that we can not often find
women with swollen bellies
give birth to monsters that
look like me and you
monsters that breathe and dream
and eat and wish they could be
